Hello Blinks Developers,
This is my first time writing to you all directly, so let me introduce myself: I’m Dan, the Games Lead at Move38. I’ve been working on Blinks since the summer of 2018, and in that time, I designed and developed around half the launch titles, and led development of several games that had been designed before I joined the team. And today I want to talk to you all, the developer community, about new developments (literally and figuratively) on Blinks!
Global Game Jam 2020
So if you haven’t heard, we recently sponsored the Playcrafting + Microsoft Global Game Jam site here in NYC. It was a ton of fun, and some amazing games were made in less than 48 hours. I won’t go into too much detail here, but if you want to read all about it, check out our blog post from that weekend:
The reason I bring it up, though, is because one of the biggest takeaways from that weekend was a big decision about the upcoming Blinks Kickstarter, namely…

Expansion #2: The Community Pack
In March, we’ll be launching a new expansion pack of 6 games through Kickstarter. This pack will be called “The Community Pack.” In it we’ll be publishing 6 brand new Blinks games, each created by a different team from our developer community. Originally we figured we’d have some internal development and some community development, but the overwhelmingly positive experience we had at GGJ, and the high quality of the games created, made it clear that an all-community pack was going to be great.

The games are currently in development, and we’re working closely with this set of developers to make sure their games will be the best they can be. And while we’re doing this work, we’re logging all of our progress in one central place.
The Blinks Developer Forum
If you haven’t already, you should join the Blinks Developer Forum.
For one thing, it’s where you can get a sneak-peek at the games being developed for the Community Pack before anyone else, plus you can provide feedback to the devs directly and help the games get better!
More importantly, as of this upcoming Kickstarter, we are now officially in the business of publishing games from our community. If you haven’t busted out your developer kit for a while, or if you’ve been hesitant to start working on that game idea, I encourage you to join the forum, introduce yourself, and start posting your ideas/prototypes/code. The Move38 team, including myself, Jon, and Josh, are in there all the time, answering questions, providing feedback, and keeping an eye out for the next great Blinks title!
Happy developing!
